Open Positions
Schedule: Evening and overnight; 2 people per shift, 7 days per week; daytime, 2 people per shift, Saturday & Sunday only. December 1, 2024- March 31, 2025
Type: Temporary, Non-Exempt positions available: Full-Time, Part-Time, & Per Diem. $18.00/hr
Job Purpose: : In collaboration with the Central Coordinated Access Network (CCAN), The Friendship Service Center (FSC) will operate emergency programs that provide triage, diversion, case management to people at risk of and experiencing literal homelessness during inclement weather months. This position is classified as ESSENTIAL. Therefore, the employee must report for work when scheduled, regardless of weather or other conditions that affect travel, and remain on duty until relieved by the supervisor or person scheduled for the next shift. The Cold Weather Shelter Specialist’s primary function is to keep participants safe in the evening and overnight hours. Other key functions of the Cold Weather Client Specialist are listed in the description below.

Job Purpose: The Shelter Manager- Residential Aide is responsible for supporting the daily management of the shelter facility including meeting the basic needs of all clients, operational needs of the shelter, and facilitating service delivery to clients in a low-barrier emergency shelter and transitional living program. This position is classified as ESSENTIAL. Therefore, the employee must report for work when scheduled, regardless of weather or other conditions that affect travel, and remain on duty until relieved by the supervisor or person scheduled for the next shift. Workers must remain on the premises during their shift unless authorized to leave.

Job Purpose: The Housing Stabilization Case Manager is responsible for providing case management services to individuals, youth and families during their period of homelessness within a Drop-in Center, Emergency Shelter, and/or Transitional Living program.

Type: Non-exempt, full-time, hourly with benefits; starting at $22.00/hr
Job Purpose: In collaboration with the Central Coordinated Access Network (CCAN), The Friendship Service Center (FSC) will operate an outreach program to triage, divert, and case manage people experiencing literal homelessness in the five towns that make up central Connecticut (Bristol, Berlin, New Britain, Southington, Plainville). The primary function of the Outreach Specialist is to canvass the community, receiving referrals from and collaborating with community partners and local Emergency Medical Services/Police Navigators; document literal homelessness using Housing and UrbanDevelopment(HUD)Category One criteria; facilitate swift entrance into the homeless service system to reduce the time a household is experiencing literal homelessness; and collaborating with community stakeholders to ensure efficient communication and a focus on a reduction of literal homelessness in Central CT.
